The Saimaa ringed seals and the Tigers

The name of the animals that the WWF is trying to save is the Saimaa Ringed Seal.
What the WWF is trying to do to save the Saimaa Ringed Seals is to make snow banks so that the pups can be protected from cold predators and any human disturbance.
The WWF didn't say they had any success.

  1. Hi Clara

They are doing such a great job trying to save these freshwater seals. It is amazing that they have to build these snow banks for the seals to have their pups. It must be like an igloo when they get inside it. Sounds really cold to me!
When you go to the coasts of New Zealand and you see all the seals that are there it is amazing to think that there is a seal that are just about extinct. I was in Kaikoura last month and the amount of seals there on the coast was huge! So many from tiny babies to great big seals.
I really do hope that they are successful with their efforts. It would be great to know if this is working.

I hope that you are having a great holiday so far and that you have something fun planned.
    Keep up the good work!

    Until next time

    Allie :)
