Cactus Math problem

Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day.
Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?
The answer to this one is 1095 ml.
I figured this out because I just did this.....
365 x 3 = 1095!

  1. Kia Ora Clara,

My name is Rachel and I am working with the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. It is great to see that you have joined us and completed two full day's worth of activities. Way to go! This is actually my fourth year with the SLJ and this is the first year that we have had a maths problem included in the programme. In the past we have just had activities that involved reading and writing.

It is great to see that you were able to tackle this maths problem and to find the right answer so easily. Can you please pop back onto your blog to add the 'millilitres' to your answer? In order to give full marks for the activity we need you to put your answer in mls.

Thanks, Clara! Speaking of popping back onto your blog, I hope that you'll have time in the new year to complete some more SLJ activities. We would love to read your work, to learn from you and to comment over the rest of the summer holiday. The SLJ programme is open every day until Friday 25 January 2019.

In the meantime, I hope that you and your family have a wonderful new years. Do you have any special plans for tonight? We are going to spend time together as a family. I live with my partner (Andy), his mom (Ruth), my son (Aronui) and our pet cat (Jackson). I see from your bio that you have many pets, including chinchillas, dogs and a goat. Wow! I have never met anyone with a chinchilla before! How long have you had your three chinchillas?

Wishing you and your entire family (and pets) a lovely evening!

    Bye for now,
    Rachel :)
