Beeswax wrap

Today we made beeswax wrap. It was soooooooo fun. We all got ours done in one day, we did it in the staff room. It was hard to grate the beeswax but it was really fun to make and I'm going to use it all the time now.....
This is how we made them!
We got a block of beeswax, then we grated it with a grater but then for ou second batch we used a potato peeler because it was easier. Then we got our material and put it on a tray, then we put the little grated bits of beeswax on the material. Then we put it in the oven until it was melted. Then we let it dry.

Our own character shapes

This is my character. Today we had to make shapes out of our character. Triangles means your character likes to move a lot and lots of triangles basically means your character is evil. Circles means kind and friendly and squares means sturdy.

How to wash and take care of your beeswax wrap.

When your beeswax wrap needs to get washed always use cold water and mild soap (eco-friendly is best).  Rinse your wrap in cold water and dish soap or sponge off with a dishcloth.  Air dry on a dish rack or use a tea towel to dry off.

1. Get your beeswax wrap and put the cold water on.

2. Then rinse the wrap in the cold water for a short amount of time. Use some eco - friendly or just mild soap with it, sponge off with a dishcloth.

3.  After that air dry the wrap or dap it and leave it in a dry dishcloth until it is dry.

And that's how you wash your beeswax wrap :)

How to make beeswax wrap

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees or the lowest setting. ( Pinking shears will help prevent your swatches from fraying).

2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the fabric on top. If the pattern is one sided place pattern faced down.

3. Evenly distribute a liberal amount of beeswax all over the fabric. ( grate the beeswax ). Make sure you spread the beeswax all over the fabric.

4. Place it in the oven for about 4-8 minutes. When the beeswax melts completely, take the tray out and use a paintbrush to spread the beeswax evenly over the fabric.

5. Hang the beeswax up on a clothes hanger and let dry.

Then you are done with your homemade beeswax wrap!

Maths week 8

Today our class had to measure our school to the swimming pool and Shantytown. It was hard because it kept failing and I had to keep redoing it over and over, but my favourite bit was finishing it because it was making me really mad.

WALT solve whole unknown problems

WALT solve whole unknown problems. This is what we had to to this week for maths medals.

We are Story Tellers

WALT write our own stories. Today we made our own characters, this is mine :) His name is Blakey the kid / my baby goat. What I thought was challenging was to make the goat on google drawing with polyline. One thing I like about it is the goat I made. Next time I would make it more colorful. :)

Zero waste

Today we had to make a life cycle about Insect life cycle, plant life cycle, Bio-fuels or decomposition/Growth. I enjoyed making it but it was hard because we couldn't get pictures from the internet.
