Beeswax wrap

Today we made beeswax wrap. It was soooooooo fun. We all got ours done in one day, we did it in the staff room. It was hard to grate the beeswax but it was really fun to make and I'm going to use it all the time now.....
This is how we made them!
We got a block of beeswax, then we grated it with a grater but then for ou second batch we used a potato peeler because it was easier. Then we got our material and put it on a tray, then we put the little grated bits of beeswax on the material. Then we put it in the oven until it was melted. Then we let it dry.

How to make beeswax wrap

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees or the lowest setting. ( Pinking shears will help prevent your swatches from fraying).

2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the fabric on top. If the pattern is one sided place pattern faced down.

3. Evenly distribute a liberal amount of beeswax all over the fabric. ( grate the beeswax ). Make sure you spread the beeswax all over the fabric.

4. Place it in the oven for about 4-8 minutes. When the beeswax melts completely, take the tray out and use a paintbrush to spread the beeswax evenly over the fabric.

5. Hang the beeswax up on a clothes hanger and let dry.

Then you are done with your homemade beeswax wrap!

Tips for a non plastic lunchbox

WALT help our families to use and buy less rubbish.Today we made a Google drawing about tips for a non - rubbish lunch box. Our School / Paroa School is aiming to get the Enviro's School bronze medal. I can't wait to try the Bees wax wrap! I really enjoyed designing this Tips Slide. I found it challenging to Tell my buddy that we have to make the sentences into boxes because I had to comment on the Google drawing and to fins some of the tips.

School Map

This is what we made today, we had to make a view of our school on paper or on google drawings. Before we made the maps we went into groups and had a piece of paper that had categories of rubbish and our teachers picked a spot around the whole school to find all the rubbish we can find in that area and then we telly marked it on the paper.
C = compost bin
Orange spheres = compost bins
Green spheres = recycling bins
Yellow spheres = recycling bin
